To be held at the new University of Manchester this biennial conference is the premier international forum on the most recent developments in SIMS.

The merger of UMIST and the Victoria University of Manchester in 2004 created one of Europe’s most prestigious academic institutions. This new university will continue Manchester’s proud tradition as a world leader in scientific and industrial innovation.

Notable firsts include the splitting of the atom, the steam engine and the programmable computer – advances that underpin the modern world. The city is now one of Europe’s most vibrant. It has a world-class airport, serving over 175 destinations, and a fully integrated transport system.

The city and the new university are proud to host SIMS XV. The conference will take place in conference facilities owned by the University, which offers a Days Hotel, purpose-built conference facilities, a self contained suite of academic buildings and a range of en-suite student accommodation.

Located in the City centre, conference delegates will benefit from easy communications as well as an outstanding choice of social activities. These include the Halle orchestra, numerous theatres, museums, restaurants and art galleries as well as the opportunity of day trips to the Lake District, Peak District, or the rugged coastline and castles of North Wales. All are within easy reach of Manchester.
